Materials and development history
Asahi Rubber manufactures high-functional rubber products made from Silicone. ASA COLOR LAMPCAP, or color caps to put on small electric bulbs, and ASA COLOR LED used for LED are also made by mixing and compounding coloring agents, pigment, or phosphor into silicone rubber to provide such products with unique functions. During the process of manufacturing such products, we embarked on joint development with material suppliers to further enhance properties of Silicone, and developed the highly light-permeable Silicone material having 94% light permeability. Taking advantage of this transparent Silicone to respond to customer needs, we have developed a resin lens ASA COLOR LENS which possesses adjustable light focusing and diffusing features.

Contribution to markets
There are high expectations on LED to be the next generation light source with distinctive attributes never been provided by other light sources before, as LED is energy-saving, compact, and has faster response with no environmentally hazardous substances. It has been widely used for mobile phones and automobiles, and increasingly applied to light sources for laptop computers and LCD televisions as well as general lighting.
ASA COLOR LENS is a lens highly compatible with LED, which is greatly expected to be widely commercialized. Due to its distinctive characteristics, it is especially suitable for high-power LED that emits more heat than conventional LED.
